Activities of the EU-LAC Foundation in the framework of the Congress of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA 2026)

The EU-LAC Foundation will be present at the 2026 Congress of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) through the organization and participation in various spaces for dialogue and academic exchange. 

LASA is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to the study of Latin America and the Caribbean, bringing together around 13,000 specialists, academics, and institutions from diverse disciplines and regions worldwide. 

The LASA 2026 Congress will be held in Paris for the first time, following an invitation from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The participation of the EU-LAC Foundation in this space reflects its commitment to strengthening bi-regional relations and promoting debates on strategic issues for both regions.

About the session: The roundtable will address the strategic relations between Latin America and the Caribbean, China, the United States, and Europe in an international context marked by geopolitical tensions, challenges to multilateralism, and changes in the global order. The discussion will analyze issues related to trade, investment, security, democracy, and sustainable development, as well as initiatives such as the Global Gateway and the Belt and Road Initiative.
