Book presentation: "Women of the Ecuadorian diaspora in Genoa. Migration, identity and memory"

In this work, the author examines the migration experience of Ecuadorian women who arrived in the Genoa region of Italy and made it their new home. This project was the winner of the International Call for Proposals for the elaboration of a compilation of testimonies on the cultural identities of European diasporas in Latin America and the Caribbean or Latin American and Caribbean diasporas in Europe, launched by the EU-LAC Foundation in 2021 with the aim of strengthening dialogue, interaction and cultural cooperation between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean.

The publication is available in Spanish and English here

The text contains accounts of Ecuadorian women and their migratory journeys. Together with these interviews, it allows us to observe the complexity of the transcontinental migratory experience, the richness of culture and identity, and the ties that are constantly interwoven between Latin America and Europe.

As the author states in the text, "this work of research and finding Ecuadorian women in Genoa is nothing other than a process of recognition of the trajectories of effort and work of sisters, mothers, daughters, women who one day took all the strength of all their families and all the women who preceded them to change their lives". This event is an opportunity to explore migration as a complex process, while demonstrating the immense value and strength of these women's stories.
