Caribbean Maritime Intra-Regional Transport

Momentum for improving intra-regional transport in the Caribbean is strong. Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) have mandated the Caribbean Development Bank to examine the challenges to intra-regional regional transport, mainly maritime. The options include establishing a multi-modal ferry connecting Guyana and Suriname to Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, the OECS, and the French overseas territories. This would significantly help boost cargo transit capacity for manufacturers and traders, as well as citizens.
