The seminar will have a limited capacity, so it will also be streamed on YouTube.
Together with the Alliance for Peace (apaz), FLACSO Chile and the Institute of International Studies of the University of Chile, the EU-LAC Foundation is organising an event on the Challenges for South American and European multilateralism in the pandemic and post pandemic to be held in a presential manner in Santiago de Chile, on 31 March 2022.
The biggest challenge for multilateralism is that multilateral organisations no longer reflect current realities in finding urgently needed solutions to problems such as climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic or the future management of big data and artificial intelligence. This has become more evident with the current global crisis, as there have been more unilateral than multilateral responses at a time when efforts to advance common agendas are needed.
Within this framework, this event is organised with the objectives
- To learn about and debate the different existing perspectives on multilateralism in the current context in the framework of a meeting with experts on the subject.
- To prepare 4 position papers on multilateralism in the regions of Central America and Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, and Europe to generate debate and define public policy proposals in the face of the challenges of the pandemic and post-pandemic.
