The Final Declaration of the XII Ministerial Conference Italy – Latin America and the Caribbean acknowledged “the important contribution of the EU-LAC Foundation to bi-regional dialogue and cooperation.” Likewise, the representatives of the participating countries committed to promoting the success of the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), scheduled for 9–10 November 2025 in Santa Marta, Colombia.
The XII Ministerial Conference Italy – Latin America and the Caribbean took place on 7 October in Rome, with the participation of senior government officials from the 33 Latin American and Caribbean countries that are members of CELAC, as well as heads of regional organisations and development banks.
During the meeting, the Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation, Alberto Brunori, underlined the importance of strengthening a tangible, proactive, and mutually beneficial bi-regional partnership. In his remarks, Brunori presented the main conclusions of the document “Maximising Opportunities for Sustainable Investments and Fair Trade in the EU-LAC Strategic Partnership,” prepared by the Foundation in anticipation of the upcoming CELAC–EU Summit in Santa Marta.
Among several key points, he highlighted the strategic potential of the bi-regional relationship, its geopolitical and symbolic value, and the need to facilitate trade to boost the economic partnership and promote investment.

The 2025 edition was held under the theme “Italy–Latin America and the Caribbean: a Growing Partnership”, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in several priority areas, including sustainable economic growth, energy, green and digital transition, culture, security, and training.
