The EU-LAC Foundation will participate in the twelfth edition of the Esquipulas Regional Forum, which will take place on 11 September in Guatemala. In the context of 40 years of democracy in Guatemala, the Forum will bring together presidents, former presidents, international leaders, academics, businesspeople, young people and civil society in a dialogue that reaffirms the spirit of the Esquipulas Agreements: the conviction that unity and integration are the way to build a region of opportunities.
The Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation, Alberto Brunoria, will give a lecture entitled ‘Regional Integration: Challenges and Opportunities in Collaboration between Latin America and the European Union,’ a reflection on regional integration as a fundamental pillar for the development of Latin America, and how collaboration between this region and the European Union can generate new opportunities to address common challenges in areas such as climate change, the digital economy and peace. The existing instruments and mechanisms for cooperation and new paths for integration to strengthen the region will be highlighted.
