Innovative Initiatives for Climate Finance: Reshaping Climate Finance Architecture for Latin America and the Caribbean

Banner Side Climate Event Sevilla

As Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) navigate intensifying climate challenges, the need for innovative, equitable, and accessible climate finance has become increasingly urgent—particularly for vulnerable contexts such as Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Caribbean. Despite increasing global commitments, the region receives a disproportionately small share of climate finance relative to its needs, highlighting the necessity for reforms in the global financial architecture.

This side event, convened by the EU-LAC Foundation in the framework of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), will take place on 30 June, from 16:30 to 18:00. It will bring together key stakeholders to explore practical and forward-looking strategies for enhancing climate finance in the LAC region. The session aims to surface actionable strategies to mobilise resources more effectively and equitably, reshape institutional pathways, and support the LAC region in advancing a just, climate-resilient future.

By gathering representatives from national governments, multilateral development banks, research institutions, and regional organisations, the session aims to identify concrete pathways for scaling up climate finance flows and aligning them with national development priorities.

This timely dialogue will contribute to ongoing efforts to reform international financial systems and to foster a just and sustainable climate transition across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Please note: Participation is by invitation only.
