On 4 June 2012, the EU-LAC Foundation's Executive Director, Jorge Valdez, will meet with representatives of the EU-LAC Foundation's Strategic Partner, Lombardy Region. The meeting will involve representatives of Cestec Spa, Eupolis Lombardia, Confindustria Lombardia, Confapindustria Lombardia, Confartigianato Lombardia, Unioncamere Lombardia, Camera di Commercio di Milano, RIAL, and Finlombarda. The meeting's goal is to move forward regarding the active participation of Lombardy Region in the Strategic Partnership with the EU-LAC Foundation, including the participation of a delegation from Lombardy at a seminar on investment, which is part of the preparatory process of the EU-LAC Summit of Heads of State and Government planned by another Strategic Partner of the EU-LAC Foundation, CEPAL, in Chile in October 2012.
So far, the key points of the Strategic Partnership between the EU-LAC Foundation and Lombardy Region include possibilities for the transfer of Lombardy's model to support Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), the involvement of industrial districts in the development of green and renewable energies, the university system and scientific research, and the strengthening of partnerships between the local and sub-national levels, based for example on the Four Motors for Europe Project.
