The new authorities of the EU-LAC Foundation carried out a successful working mission to Brussels to exchange with representatives of its member states as part of the process of drafting the strategic plan for the current mandate.

The Executive Director, Alberto Brunori, and the President, José Antonio García Belaúnde, held discussions with Ambassadors and representatives of Latin America and the Caribbean to the European Union about shared interests and priorities for the organisation's work in the coming years, in alignment with the EU-CELAC Summit scheduled for 2025.

They also addressed with the member states the status of ratifications of our Constitutive Agreement and highlighted initiatives from Peru and Mexico to contribute to the organisation's work through the appointment of officials as part of the team.

Brunori and Belaúnde held bilateral meetings with Costa Rica's Ambassador to the EU, Eliana Villalobos Cárdenas; the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Colombia to the EU, Camila Polo; Guatemala's Ambassador to Belgium, José Gabriel Lambour; Chile's Ambassador to Belgium, Gloria Navarrete; and Mexico's Ambassador to Belgium, Rogelio Granguillhome.

In a productive meeting with Pelayo Castro, Deputy Director General of the Americas Department at the European External Action Service, the context of the bi-regional partnership and the role of the organisation in supporting the EU-CELAC Summit were discussed. Additionally, areas of action and interest for the EU in the bi-regional dialogue were identified.

The organisation's authorities also met with Félix Fernández-Shaw, Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission, to discuss mechanisms to strengthen collaboration with the region, emphasising the importance of advancing an agenda that enhances opportunities with Latin America and the Caribbean.
