Together with the Ibero-American Institute (IAI) and the GIGA – Institute for Latin American Studies (GIGA-ILAS), the EU-LAC International Foundation organised a Meeting of Think Tanks, Research Centres and Study Associations based in Europe dedicated to the analysis of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Bi-regional Relations between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean, which was intended to foster:
- An exchange about the effects of the pandemic on the research agendas of the centres and associations;
- A joint analysis of challenges and opportunities that emerged as a consequence of the pandemic in the LAC-Region in different areas, like democracy, economy, civil society, environment, public health systems, multilateralism and bi-regional cooperation; and
- A dialogue on knowledge transfer from research centres to decision-makers in the context of the pandemic.
The preparatory session for this meeting was held on Friday, 25 February 2022 between all invited research centres and associations in a virtual format. The aim of this session was to prepare the meeting and to ensure that this activity is in line with the interests and working approaches of the invited organisations.
The preparatory session and the meeting itself were private events open to invited attendees only.
