Summary of the symposium “International Strategies and Environmental Justice, Europe, Latin America, Caribbean"

The fourteenth edition of the Annual Symposium of the Institute of the Americas (IdA), co-organised with the EU-LAC International Foundation, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE), and the French Development Agency (AFD), was held on 4 and 5 June 2025 at the AFD headquarters and the Palais du Luxembourg, as part of the Latin America and Caribbean Weeks (SALC).

Entitled “International Strategies and Environmental Justice: Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean”, the event was held under the high patronage of the President of the French Senate. This edition was exceptionally organised in conjunction with the Congress of the European Council for Social Research on Latin America (CEISAL), held from 2 to 4 June 2025 at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University, thus fostering closer academic collaboration between Europe and Latin America.

Scientific coordination was led by Catherine Aubertin (IRD), Director of Research at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) and affiliated with the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), together with Pierre Gautreau, Professor and Researcher in Political Geography of the Environment at the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.

The summary of presentations was prepared by Sabina Taborga, under the supervision of Luis Miguel Camargo and Anouk Vinci of the Institute of the Americas (IdA).
