We are pleased to announce that the 11th edition of the Latin American and Caribbean Autumn Festival will be titled “Hamburg, Latin America, and the Caribbean: Over 100 Years of Shared History.”
Once again, the Senate of Hamburg, together with the consular corps of Latin America and the Caribbean based in the city, and the EU-LAC Foundation, in collaboration with numerous institutions, will carry out this initiative which began in 2014.
This year, the festival not only celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Latin America and the Caribbean, but also coincides with the centenary celebrations of the construction of the iconic Chilehaus in Hamburg, a symbol of the historic commercial and cultural relationship between the two regions. Inaugurated in 1924, the Chilehaus was built at the request of businessman Henry B. Sloman, in the context of his large-scale saltpetre imports from Chile.
The festival will offer a diverse range of activities, including music, dance, art, cinema, and gastronomy, highlighting the deep connection between Hamburg and Latin American and Caribbean cultures. The participation of renowned artists will provide an enriching insight into our shared history.
We invite you to join this cultural celebration and explore the historical and contemporary ties that unite Hamburg with Latin America and the Caribbean.
